Damon Albarn and Jamie HewlettJamie Hewlett and Damon Abarn are plotting for their opera, Monkey, to succeed in China. The first Western act to do so.

Albarn and Hewlett will take their musical, itself based upon traditional Chinese folklore, backed by a heavy record company led marketing campaign.

XL label boss Ben Beardsworth explained to Music Week, "Damon and Jamie have the chance to engage in China in a more meaningful way than any Western artist has previously had."
