Doves preview four new songs live
Written by Mark Thompson
DovesDoves previous exile from the musical world has been down to some hard-and-fast tangiable things like their studio burning down. This time, however, who knows what has delayed the boys bringing their tunes to our ears. The good news, following their weekend's live show, is that new material is hanging heavy on the horizon.

Doves played their first live show in three years at the weekend. The show at London's Royal Festival Hall, which formed part of the Heavenly record label's 18th anniversary, saw the band debut four new songs expected to appear on their forthcoming album. The songs played were entitled Winter Hill, Kingdom Of Rust, The Outsiders and Jetstream, the latter being the first Doves' track to feature Andy Williams (the band's, not the lounge lizard) singing lead vocals.

The trio's next album, the successor to 2005's Some Cities, is expected for release next spring.

Lost Soul    September 19th, 2008 - 12:57 PM

I caught their warm-up gig prior to the RFH show, the new material Is really good. There Is a download on the Doves forum If you are curious.

Incidently both the Williams brothers have added vocals before. Jez who performed Jetstream did Words from The Last Broadcast while his drumer brother did Here It Comes from Lost Souls.

The band hope to perform again around Xmas time In Manchester. Good news.
