Franz Ferdinand, Santogold and Jamie Liddell to play NZ fest
Written by Beck Kingsnorth
Rhythm and Vines FestivalAs the UK's soggy excuse for a summer draws to an unspectacular close, it's hard not to fantasise about festivals in sunnier climes. In fact, how about the other side of the world?

The 6th Rhythm & Vines festival in the Waiohika Estate vineyards in New Zealand runs from 29th December to 1st January, which - it being the other side of the world and all - is the height of summer. Local talent and international artists will play, with those confirmed including Franz Ferdinand, Shihad, The Kooks, Carl Cox, Digitalism, Santogold, The Mystery Jets, Jamie Liddell, Adam Freeland, A Track and Busy P.

Aside from the action at the vineyards the festival also includes beachside frolics at the BW Campgrounds, 10 minutes from the festival site. Activities include surfing and volleyball tournaments and, erm, the BW Bikini Jam, as well as lots of after (and pre!) parties.

The festival attracts 16,000 people each year.
