Gorillaz continue the primate trend with their latest musical venture dropping an album under the name Monkey.
The duo of Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett have put together an album, entitled Journey To The West, believed to be based their opera Monkey: Journey To The West, which premiered at the 2007 Manchester International Festival, and opens tonight (23rd July) at London's Royal Opera House. The album, produced by Albarn, clocks in at fifty minutes over twenty two tracks. Lyrically the set is based upon ancient Chinese texts and was performed in Mandarin. Recording took place in both London and Beijing.
