They beat off competition from 286 other acts, including some established artists, receiving 2224 out of the 22,000 votes cast.

Booger Red said in response:

"When we entered Green Man festival's Green Poll we didn't expect to win, we knew the quality of the entrants would be high. The response has been amazing, we have had mails of support from as far as New Zealand, Australia and the US! The Green Poll has certainly opened a few doors and ears to us!"

Booger Red's music is a mix of psychedelia, folk and rock n'roll. One of the festival organisers, Fiona Stewart, said of the contest:

“Following a rather odd evening of naughtiness I found myself in a bunny outfit in a café in Hackney eating or not eating breakfast looking at re-runs of the X-Factor on tv. I started to rant about the processing of modern music, in the way that you do when you are fighting a hangover. My voice was louder than I thought and caught the attention of some working gentlemen who reminded me that I was wearing a bunny outfit and wanted to know how high bunnies jumped. I realised that this was what was happening to the artists and nation regarding X-Factor. We were all being trained to, so to speak, 'jump' to some sort of marketing trainer.

"In the mean time I politely agreed to the request of the working gentlemen to see how high a bunny could jump by trying to jump over a pole (you can see where this is leading), from a standing position. I was quite successful the first few times as well even if other people tell you different. After I came around I thought of Green Poll as a way that you could create an opportunity for anybody to vote for an artist without being conned into it, Which would also make any successful artist have the kind of credibility and gravitas that would never be associated with other media led talent competitions.
