Metallica have announced a UK tour this February, the first time the band have toured these isles properly since 1996. The band have, in the intervening years, concentrated on one-off dates and festival performances.

The shows are touted to be 'in the round' performances, with the band playing in the centre of the venues surrounded on all sides by their audience.

The tour comes on the back of the band's critcally acclaimed and number one album, Death Magnetic. Support on the dates comes from Machine Head and The Sword.

Tickets for the dates go on sale this Friday (October 24) at 9am.
