The inevitable has occurred and Neil Young has been confirmed as a Glastonbury headliner. However, Young doesn't just stop at Somerset, he's headlining in the capital at Hard Rock Calling too.
Michael Eavis, the Glastonbury organizer, has confirmed that Neil Young will be appearing at this year's festival, also named on the bill are Fleet Foxes. The festival takes place on June 26-28 at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset. Eavis was in buoyant mood at finally getting his man, "This is big news for us. We've given it a go every year to get Neil to play." Meanwhile, Young has also been announced as the Saturday night headliner at this year's Hard Rock Calling. Hard Rock Calling takes place in Hyde Park, London on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th June, and the Saturday Night will see Neil Young joined on the bill by Fleet Foxes, Ben Harper & Relentless7, Seasick Steve, and The Pretenders. Tickets will be on sale from 9am Friday 13th March 2009, priced at £45. Sunday's headliner is Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band with support from Dave Matthews Band, and The Gaslight Anthem, tickets for Sunday have already sold out.
