Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds' deluxe reissues
Written by Mark Thompson

Nick CaveThe band are to digitally remaster and remix, in 5.1 surround sound, all their entire back catalogue. The first foray into the world of fangled audio systems and crystalline sound comes with the release of Nick and co.'s first four albums.

The initial albums given the revamp are From Her To Eternity, The First Born Is Dead, Kicking Against The Pricks and Your Funeral, My Trial, which are expected to be released by the end of the year.

Each album will be released as a deluxe collector’s edition containing the re-mastered stereo album, the new surround mix, a specially commissioned short film made by acclaimed UK artists Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard plus the b-sides from the singles and exclusive sleeve notes.

On a more contemporary theme, the band release their new single Midnight Man on 28th July. The single comes backed with Hey Little Firing Squad and early versions of More News From Nowhere and Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!. Original artwork by Nick Cave will also form part of the single's packaging.

About Midnight Man, Nick Cave explains, “… It takes various points of view and it’s got an unreliable narrator speaking in it and it time travels. It’s basically a guy looking at his woman and half of the time he’s the protector and at other times he’s the villain and she betrays him and doesn’t betray and he’s jealous and not jealous. It’s very lean and there’s a nice sense of threat within the song”.
