Return To The Neighbourhood - Arcade Fire album, single and tour
Written by Mark Thompson
Arcade FireStand by your beds, Arcadettes! The band don't things by halves and today they have issued a news assault to grab you by the ears and plant a big kiss on your face. So, ahem, wake up!

First out of the traps is the confirmation of details of their second album, Neon Bible, the self-produced set will be released on March 5th through Rough Trade. The tracklisting for the album, which includes a re-recording of No Cars Go from the early Arcade Fire EP, is as follows:

Black Mirror
Keep The Car Running
Neon Bible
Intervention
Black Wave / Bad Vibrations
Ocean Noise
The Well and the Lighthouse
Anitchrist Television Blues
Windowsill
No Cars Go
My Body Is A Cage

The band has posted a video with clips from each of the songs over on You Tube.

The album will be preceded by the single Black Mirror, differing from the much anticpated release of Intervention. Black Mirror is currently being streamed on the band's website and can be heard by clicking the 'Win' link, and then accessing Win's Scrapbook.

The band have also announced a European tour in March to coincide with the album's release. The dates are as follows:

Dublin Olympia (March 5,6)
Manchester Apollo (8,9)
Glasgow Barrowlands (11,12)
London Brixton Academy (14,15)
Paris Olympia (19,20)
Stockholm Circus (23)
Oslo Centrum Scene (24)
Copenhagen Vega (25)
Berlin Postbanhof (27)
Munich Elserhalle (28)
Lyon Transbordeur (31)
Cologne E-Live Music Hall (April 1)
Utrecht Vredenburg (2)
Brussels Halles de Schaerbeek (4)
Lille L'Aeronef (5)

Tickets for the shows go on sale Friday January 12th at 9am.

Arcade Fire are also strongly tipped to headline a night at the Eden Project, as part of the Eden Sessions Festival in August.

Gonna try, but it will be a a huge case of blink and you'll miss em.

Or blink, wait 5 minutes and then see all the tickets on eBay.

I'm going to try. I am very impressed with the new material. I think the melody of Intervention sounds a lot like the Warren Zevon song Something Bad Happened to a Clown. The tempo and general feel of the two songs are very different but the melody of Intervention is very similar to the chorus of Zevon's song. if I can figure out how, I will upload the track later so you can see what I mean. It's from the album Mutineer.

Ooh, do, I liked the Zevon song in the mixtape you made. And Tunng. I'll see how expensive the albums are at HMV this lunchbreak, I think.

The You Tube video link in the news article is pretty good as a taster too. There's excerpts from all the songs on Neon Bible, and whilst not comprehensive they do give you a flavour of what to expect.

Also, the band have been highly productive on the viral marketing front. The Neon Bible website has been updated has a few puzzles to solve with lots of cryptic messages, videos and synchronized swimming pieces as a reward.

Glad you liked it. That Zevon song was from his self-titled album, which was his second album. A lot of people think it's his debut and a lot of people consider it to be his first "proper" album because it is in a different class to the actual debut. It's a really good record and I'd recommend either that or Excitable Boy. I can do rips of either for you if funds don't stretch far enough.

I was rather taken with the Unicorns on your mix.

Drowned in Sound reported that TicketWeb have got a higher allocation. Ergo, I am currently sitting at work, refreshing TicketWeb every few minutes, and hoping like hell I don't get caught.

Just bagged two tickets (I nearly bought 4 by mistake). Use ticketweb, and be patient it takes quite a while for the pages to load.

I have 2 tickets on Ticketweb. Even though I kept pressing the "continue shopping" form instead of "proceed to secure checkout" for about 10 minutes. Ticketweb is easier to use. Service charge was a whopping £6 odd even though I got box office collect!

Mine was £9, but that includes postage. It's not TOO bad, I've had Ticketmaster charge me stupid amounts in the past.

Got tickets for March 14th; tickets for the first two shows sold out in under 15 minutes.  Shows were added for the 16th and 17th and are now also sold out.  It's going to be amazing - anyone who hasn't seen the Arcade Fire live is in for a huge treat.
