Swan Lake finish new album
Written by Mark Thompson
Swan LakeSpencer Krug has the lowdown on the latest from alt. rock's Frankenstein, a band that takes in various component parts from Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown, Destroyer, The New Pornographers and Frog Eyes. That's one crazy Swan Lake Venn diagram.

Spencer Krug, who also busies himself with Wolf Parade and Sunset Rubdown duties, has spoken about the latest from part-time project Swan Lake. In an interview with Bristol University student radio, Krug spilled the beans about what he, Dan Bejar (The New Pornographers, Destroyer, Hello Blue Roses) and Carey Mercer (Frog Eyes) have been upto.

"Swan Lake just made another record. When it comes out, I don't know,” revealed Krug. “It hasn't been mixed yet, we just finished the recording.”

Krug also acknowledged the contribution of his bandmates to the Swan Lake project. Whilst everyone juggles their other specific musical concerns he was keen to shed light on how Swan Lake comes together to produce a new album.

“[Recording] is very deliberately, very outwardly ‘Everyone bring X amount of songs’, and I'll bring a whole song to the project and be like ‘This is what I would like you guys to do on this’, but their styles still get infused into the end result. That's the idea.

“It's a collaboration,” Krug ventured, “and we talk a lot in that project about everything, but in the beginning stages, it's very much everyone brings, like, 4 songs. Finished songs."
