Fed up with the Portland collective's side and solo projecting, and their political rallying? Then don't worry, because Colin Meloy and chums have just announced their own series of singles.
Entitled Always the Bridesmaid: A Singles Series, the collection comes in three volumes and will appear in digital and vinyl formats. The first volume will be released on October 14th and includes Valerie Plame and O New England. According to the band's press release Valerie Plame is "an amorous tribute to the onetime CIA operative...written from the point-of-view of one of Plame's inside contacts upon discovering her true identity." We've always wondered just how long it would take before that tale found its way onto record! Volume II will emerge on November 4th and features Days of Elaine, Days of Elaine [Long], and I'm Sticking With You. The final volume, Volume III, is released on December 2nd and includes Record Year and Raincoat Song. Stateside the digital release will be handled by Capitol, with the band's own label, Y.A.B.B. Records, taking care of the 12" release. Meanwhile, in the U.K., the digital and 7" vinyl release will be taken care of through Rough Trade. The Decemberists are currently working on the follow-up to their last album The Crane Wife, with Always The Bridesmaid producer Tucker Martine. (0) comments - discuss in the forum |
