Yeah, it's an interesting move, given ITV's history of messing up with US shows. But if Zoe from Eastenders can get ITV2's highest viewing figures ever, Anna Friel must be worth at least 6m, right?

Ah, Anna Friel. Her Brookside days were responsible for a huge crush I had on her during college.

Cunningly, the Brookside scriptwriters made her a lesbian and the murderer of her wife-beating father in a bid to put me off her. It didn't work. And, in the case of the former lifestyle choice, actually made matters worse for teenage me.

But back on topic, yes, it's a bold move. The kind of tactic usually employed by C4 on Friday nights. But ITV? On a Saturday? It's a first, but I guess they had a huge, great big, muttering Parkinson-void that they needed to fill.

Well, now she's dead. And looks like Zoey Deschanel. But yes, it's seems like it's ITV's attempt to sort of reinvent itself like Five did with CSI. If CSI were written by Roald Dahl.

Oooh, necrophilia (probably spelt incorrectly but I daren't spell check via Google) with a former lezbot. It's extreme, it's obscure but a sexy alternative guaranteed to ensure my pencil is fully lead-equipped.

Actually, in real life Anna Friel is, or was, supposed to be a real dirty cow.  I base this on factual evidence heard from a mate who grew up in her home town.

Back on topic again, I've heard it's a bit Tim Burton-ish - think Ted Scissorhands and Big Fish.

Watched the first Pushing Daisies last week, and dont think I'll persist.

It's not the programme's fault, which was mildly enjoyable in an Eerie Indiana type way. No, it was the number of advert breaks which made the whole process insufferable.  It felt like a half-hour show padded out to an hour. Everytime the thing got going, it had the brakes (breaks) slammed on.

May have to find a different method of watching more episodes.
